Out on the Shelves, QMUNITY’s library, is back and better than ever! We have diligently spent the last few months reorganizing our collection to be more user-friendly. Our library is now clean, bright, and inviting!
Specializing in LGBTQ materials spanning the entire rainbow, we seek to answer all your queer-related questions. We currently hold over 3,500 titles (and counting!), including fiction, poetry, history, theory, biographies, DVDs, and much more!
The QMUNITY Library is a volunteer run library so the hours may change based on volunteer participation. Whenever reception is open, the library can be open. Please call reception at 604-684-5307, ext. 100 to see if our volunteer receptionist is in.
Check out the library’s calendar to see the current guaranteed hours (may be open longer).

The space is free to use for reading or studying. To take materials out of the library, a Qmunity membership is needed. The general cost is $25/year, but accommodations can easily be made for those with lower incomes.
We welcome donations of queer-related books, magazines, and DVDs only. These can be dropped off at the library or at reception when the library is closed. Please see our wishlist for suggested items.
Queer material (especially pamphlets, memorabilia, periodicals, artifacts) of any age with local- or BC-interest might be valuable to the BC Gay & Lesbian Archives. Email Ron Dutton for more information.
Generally, donors are responsible for bringing material to QMUNITY. Once donated, that material becomes property of QMUNITY. QMUNITY will determine how best to use the material, and reserves the right to refuse, sell, or give-away anything that is ultimately deemed unsuitable for our collection.
If requested, we will issue a tax receipt for items that we add to our collection. By law, we can issue a receipt for no more than the current fair market value. This is usually significantly less than the original purchase or cover price. QMUNITY reserves the right to make this determination.
If you would like to add to our collection, but do not have anything to donate, QMUNITY welcomes cash donations. We also have many volunteer opportunities that contribute to the overall viability of Out on The Shelves. Please visit the Get Involved section of our website or call 604 684-5307.
Our Library Coordinators are Anna Babluck and Alice MacGougan.
To contact either of them email the Library or phone 604-684-5307, ext. 104.
