Jennifer Breakspear – Executive Director

Jennifer brings to QMUNITY her passion for human rights activism, an honours undergraduate degree in public policy (specialising in human rights policy), graduate work in legal studies and political science and a career path that has traversed the public, private and non-profit sectors. She is committed to the enhancement and celebration of queer lives. As QMUNITY’s Executive Director Jennifer is responsible for carrying out the mission and mandate of the organisation through the direction of QMUNITY’s programs, finance, facilities, and human resources. She is the public relations spokesperson for QMUNITY and leads development on behalf of the agency. Jennifer is responsible to the Board of Directors and works with them to develop funding opportunities and chart the future course of QMUNITY. Jennifer currently sits on the Boards of Directors of Zee Zee Theatre Company and CenterLink – The Association of LGBT Centers and Chairs the Finance Committee of her housing co-op.

Dylan Mazur – Program Manager

For the past decade, Dylan has collaborated with over a dozen communities and community-based organizations in Canada and Latin America on programs and projects to address issues such as torture and political violence, settlement and adaptation, and homelessness and poverty. He has worked with First Nations communities in British Columbia, Mayan communities in Guatemala, and numerous culturally and economically diverse communities throughout Metro Vancouver. At the heart of Dylan’s work, has been his long-term collaboration with human rights organizations in the Mexican states of Chiapas and Oaxaca to address the social and psychological effects of political violence on individuals, families, and communities. Dylan is a social worker, and is dedicated to a rights-based practice. As Program Manager, Dylan is proud to be a contributing member to QMUNITY’s decades-long history of advocacy, activism, and community development.

Alexandra Henriques – Generations Community Developer

Alexandra, an activist since she was a student at the University of Toronto heading the Gays and Lesbians at U of T, loves movies, traveling and fun! Alexandra’s life so far has included facilitating A.B.E, activism on many fronts, developing and delivering workshops and educationals on cultural awareness, anti-racism and more, living and working on four continents, a life long commitment to environmentalism, working in George Brown College’s Community Worker Program, teaching at SFU and UBC, starting a business, and now QMUNITY. Ah, life is sweet in BC.

Anne-Marie Wallace – Volunteer Coordinator

Anne-Marie hails from Fredericton, NB and has lived in Vancouver since 2000. She holds an undergraduate degree in Classics and is currently working towards a certificate in Technical Writing. She has worked in a variety of fields, most recently in the legal environment, mainly government related and non-profit. Her extensive volunteer experience includes organising events and founding a lesbian social club. As the QMUNITY Volunteer Coordinator, Anne-Marie works to find the right fit for both the volunteer and the organisation. She believes that volunteering should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

Tash Wolfe – Youth Worker

Tash has been called a pioneer in Vancouver’s queer youth services. As a youth, she helped with the development of the first funded programs for queer and trans youth in Greater Vancouver. She brings over ten years of experience in youth work and is currently working on a BA in Child and Youth Care through the University of Victoria. In her spare time, she alternates between playing cribbage with her wife and being crafty. Tash facilitates the weekly Gab drop-ins, organizes activities and events with the Youth Advisory Committee, and provides one-to-one support and referrals. As well, she represents QMUNITY on the Transgender Health Program’s Advisory Group and is developing trans-awareness workshops for elementary and secondary students.

Adeline Huynh – Youth Worker

Adeline is always looking for new and creative ways to mash together her two passions in life – the arts and community development. She holds multiple degrees in Political Science, Women’s Studies, Writing and Film. Now she’s pursuing an education in the Counselling field. She has facilitated writing, literacy and filmmaking workshops for youth, and has been commissioned to produce films on anti-racism that are screened in classrooms throughout BC, AB and ON. She is also a writer, one-time-only centrefold model, and Editorial Board member of an independent magazine that is a youth connecting seniors publishing project. Her newest creative outlet is as a Youth Worker for QMUNITY Gab Youth. At Gab she provides advocacy and outreach to LGTBQ youth, co-facilitates weekly drop-ins, organises activities and events, provides one to one support and referrals, and is constantly learning from the amazing young people she connects with every day.

Robin Parry – Education/Outreach Community Developer

Robin is a queer social worker, writer and cartoonist, with a passion for giving back to and celebrating the LGTB community, and a belief that the potential of the people within it is limitless. After studying professional writing and then social work in South Australia, he worked for the AIDS Council of South Australia’s Gay Men’s Health Project as a Social Inclusion Officer. He then wandered the world for just under two years and now happily calls Vancouver home. Being a part of QMUNITY gives Robin an opportunity to help promote and support well-being, respect, positive connections and empowerment within the queer community, and there is nothing he would rather be doing!

Lyndon Surjik – Executive Assistant

Lyndon has over twenty years experience working with community and non-profit organisations in a variety of administrative, program and management roles and is pleased to bring his experience to the Executive Assistant position at QMUNITY. Since moving to Vancouver from Saskatchewan in the 1990s he has worked provincially and nationally for the Canadian Federation of Students and locally for two college students’ unions, the Downtown Eastside Residents’ Association, AIDS Vancouver and the Health Sciences Association of BC. As a professional singer and double bassist Lyndon has performed with several choirs, musical theatre ensembles and regional symphony orchestras throughout BC. He is currently active as President of the Board of Solo Collective Theatre and sits on the Vancouver Theatre Cares committee.
