These are guidelines to help us share a fun, safe, meaningful space together. We all make mistakes and that’s okay – if you are not following these principles in the space you will receive a gentle reminder.
Respect
Treat others how THEY want to be treated.
Listen when others set boundaries.
Consent
Give a heads up before you dive into a heavy topic & check in before venting about hard things.
Get consent before touching someone (this goes for hugs, high fives, cuddling…everything!)
Pay attention to other people’s non-verbal cues that they are (or are not) having a good time in a conversation or activity. If you’re not sure, ask!
Anti-Oppression
No homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, misogyny, sexism, racism, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, Islamophobia, classism, fatphobia, xenophobia, ageism, or general hatefulness allowed.
Confidentiality
What happens here stays here, and what’s learned here leaves here!
Awareness
Be mindful of the energy that you bring into the group.
Be mindful of the experiences of people in the space – anything shared in the space (beyond a smaller group discussion) should be appropriate for a 14 year-old to hear.
Be mindful of how much space you’re taking up in discussion, and challenge yourself to speak up if you’re normally more quiet (if you want :) ) available, please don’t use drugs or alcohol in the space
Drugs & Alcohol
GAB is a harm-reduction space – we have harm reduction supplies available, please don’t use drugs or alcohol in the space.
Scent Reduction
GAB is a scent-reduced space. Please don’t wear strong perfumes, colognes or other scented products to drop-in.
