Supporting Ourselves and Each Other After Tumbler Ridge

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific events that took place in Tumbler Ridge yesterday. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by this tragedy.

We know that news like this can affect people in many different ways. If you are feeling overwhelmed, grieving, or finding this difficult to process, you are not alone.

As we come together and navigate the coming days, you may consider:

  • Limiting your exposure to news and social media if it feels overwhelming.

  • Checking in with your trans friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

  • Making space for your own reactions without judgment.

  • Staying connected to routines that bring steadiness.

  • Reaching out for support if you need it.

For Parents and Caregivers.

Supporting young people can be heavy in moments like this, especially if you are the parent of a trans youth.

Make sure to remember that you deserve care too.

You might consider:

  • Pausing before difficult conversations so you can feel grounded.

  • Listening more than you correct or reassure.

  • Leaning on other adults for perspective and support.

You do not have to carry this alone.

If you need support, connection, or information, QMUNITY is here.

Our programs and services continue as usual, and our doors remain open.
