QMUNITY's New Home

Youth Music Program

Grow your songwriting & recording skills alongside 2SLGBTQQIA+ peers!

Description

QMUNITY’s introductory music program will give budding musicians an opportunity to learn about electronic music, home studio setups, recording equipment, and more. We have recording software, professional gear, a synthesizer, a drum sampler, a microphone - every session is hands-on, where you will get the opportunity to press buttons and jam out on the electronic equipment. Facilitated by Jeff Cancade aka Devours: Jeff Cancade (he/they) is a self-taught singer/songwriter and electronic producer based in Vancouver. A lifelong home recording artist, he has composed music for commercials, podcasts, and documentaries, and worked as a principal music editor on American television series including Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and My Little Pony. For the past decade, Cancade has released music as Devours, earning a Polaris Prize nomination, touring Canada and the US, and receiving features in CBC, Vice, and The Globe and Mail. He has also lectured at UBC and SFU and volunteers with QMUNITY, returning to Q’s music program to support queer youth in finding their voices. Tuesdays 4-6PM at QMUNITY 1170 Bute Street Email youth@qmunity.ca to register
